¿Cómo es que hasta ahora yo no conocía de la existencia de esta mujer brillante? Fue gracias a la cortina de la serie Weeds que la primera vez que escuché una de sus canciones, pensé "¿qué es esto tan original, inteligente, acertado y gracioso?"
Así, cuando uno no tiene muchas pistas que seguir ni sabe por donde buscar, entré en GOOGLE!
Llegué hasta http://www.youtube.com/ donde ingresé el nombre y apareció una serie de Pete Seeger en blanco y negro, donde Malvina canta algunas canciones. La ya archiconocida Little Houses, The New Restaurant y otras.
Las letras son EXTRAORDINARIAS. Canciones con visión ecologista, conservacionista, social, pacifista, orgánica, avant garde de la sensibilidad de esta artísta única nacida en 1900 en San Francisco, California y claramente adelantada a su época. ( O los atrasadísimos somos nosotros...) Ph.D. en 1938 en Filología, su repertorio incluye cientos de canciones políticas, sobre derechos civiles, activismo anti-guerras y clásicas para niños.
